Activity Overview
The treatment landscape for polycythemia vera (PV) and essential thrombocytopenia (ET) is rapidly evolving, with risk-adapted strategies guided by updated recommendations from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), European LeukemiaNet (ELN), and International Prognostic Score of Thrombosis for Essential Thrombocythemia (IPSET-T). The introduction of novel agents such as ropeginterferon alfa-2b, ruxolitinib, pelabresib, and bomedemstat—particularly in cases of hydroxyurea resistance or intolerance—adds further complexity to treatment decisions. While these therapies offer promise in improving hematologic control and symptom burden, clinician education is needed to support appropriate therapy selection, treatment sequencing, and the incorporation of molecular testing to guide care.
This Cases and Conversations™ activity features expert faculty discussing cases of PV and ET, highlighting relevant clinical data and guideline recommendations for the diagnosis and management of these myeloproliferative disorders.
This educational activity is an archive of the live virtual symposium held on November 12, 2025.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward medical oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care providers involved in the treatment and management of PV and ET.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Interpret recent clinical trial data and guideline updates relevant to the treatment of PV and ET
- Apply evidence-based treatment strategies to newly diagnosed and previously treated patients with PV and ET
- Identify best practices for supportive care and symptom monitoring in patients with PV and ET
