Overview

Cure to Cancer Survivorship: A New Era of Biomarkers, Interventions, and Care Models is a one-day educational conference jointly sponsored by Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and Physicians’ Education Resource (PER^®).

Cancer survivorship is one of the most rapidly evolving areas in oncology. As treatment efficacy improves across many tumor types, the long-term physical, psychological, and social impact of cancer management has emerged as an important topic as part of overall cancer care. This inaugural program for oncologists and other health care professionals managing cancer features expert speakers addressing cancer survivorship topics from screening through diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up.

Key program features will include expert presentations and holistic discussions on how to integrate survivorship into clinical decision-making from the time of diagnosis, dose delivery, and adherence optimization through lifestyle and supportive interventions. Management of chronic debilitating toxicities, such as fatigue and nausea, and discussion of long-term efficacy and safety data for key therapies and extended treatment regimens will also be reviewed. Specific topics will include:

• Treatment selection, balancing long-term efficacy with long-term safety and patient-reported outcomes
• Supportive physical care during and after treatment
• Long-term adherence in the setting of extended medical therapies: behavioral strategies, lifestyle advice, technology-enabled tools, and shared decision-making frameworks

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward academic and community-based oncologists, hematologists, transplant physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), nurses, and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with cancer.
