Activity Overview
Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) are significant drivers of vision loss in the United States, and they put substantial burdens on patients—both from the disease itself and the need for regular treatment.
Less-frequent injection protocols using newer anti-VEGF agents can reduce treatment burden for patients and their caregivers without compromising efficacy. In this program, expert faculty will review cases that illustrate the possibilities for providing extended treatment intervals for patients with neovascular retinal diseases.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward retina specialists, comprehensive ophthalmologists, and optometrists involved in the management of patients with neovascular retinal diseases.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Select an initial anti-VEGF treatment approach for nAMD based on patient and disease factors
- Apply advanced management approaches for DME in the setting of residual fluid or poor adherence
- Determine when to extend treatment intervals in the management of RVO
