Activity Overview
Chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC), also known as functional
constipation, has a significant impact on patients and the health care
system. However, it may not be diagnosed in a timely manner due to patient
embarrassment and low clinician awareness of appropriate diagnostic tools. In
this program, an expert faculty provides clinicians with information to improve
their skills and knowledge of appropriate diagnostic tools for CIC.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward gastroenterologists,
pediatric gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, pediatricians, nurse
practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other health care
professionals involved in diagnosing and caring for patients with CIC.

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Review diagnostic criteria to identify patients with CIC
- Incorporate appropriate tests into diagnostic algorithms to identify patients with CIC
