Activity Overview
This video-based program is designed for health care professionals to explore the utility of nonopioid therapies in managing acute pain through a unique perspective, putting the patient voice front and center. A patient lends their expertise to this program by sharing their journey dealing with acute pain. This online activity focuses on the burden of acute pain, the current standard of care, the role of voltage-gated sodium channels in the pathophysiology of acute pain, and the efficacy and safety of new therapies that target these sodium channels
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward general surgeons, neurologists, primary care providers, physician assistants, registered nurses, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with acute pain.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Identify the impact on quality of life often caused by acute pain
- Implement guideline-directed therapy for treating patients with acute pain
